Leanna found a forgotten space, felt something in it, & decided to build something beautiful from scratch.

Leanna had been building her brand for years — Thriving, but feeling like something bigger was possible.
So she found a space in Shelton, CT that most people would have kept walking past. It was rough. It needed everything. But she saw it — the space could become.
Modern Rose opened its doors in 2024 as more than a beauty studio. It's a a curated space for artists who push boundaries, welcome everyone, and believe beauty is a form of self-expression, not a standard to meet.
She had a
plan.

Rose Josephine Perno
JANUARY 8TH, 1926 - JANUARY 30TH, 2013
Modern Rose is dedicated in honor of Leanna's grandmother, Rose Josephine Perno — the woman who saw her before she saw herself.
She called Leanna her “porcelain doll” — and so Leanna built Porcelain Studio back in 2020.
When she moved, she brought her with her. Modern Rose carries her name in spirit — in every transformation, every client who leaves feeling like their most beautiful self.
She lives here.
